At 95 Percent Done, S.D. Corn Harvest Nearly Double 2019 Pace

For the week ending Sunday, there were 5.2 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 15% very short, 36% short, 49% adequate, and 0% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 17% very short, 43% short, 40% adequate, and 0% surplus.

Corn harvested was 95%, well ahead of 49% last year, and ahead of 80% for the five-year average.

Winter wheat condition rated 0% very poor, 2% poor, 31% fair, 57% good, and 10% excellent. Winter wheat emerged was 94%, near 97% both last year and average.

Sunflowers harvested was 81%, well ahead of 48% last year, and ahead of 75% average.

Pasture and range conditions rated 14% very poor, 22% poor, 45% fair, 19% good, and 0% excellent.
