The value of South Dakota’s 2022 field and miscellaneous crops is forecast at $8.96 billion, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. This is up 5% from 2021.
The value of corn production is expected to total $4.40 billion, down 2% from the previous marketing year. South Dakota's corn price is projected to average $6.65 per bushel, up $0.54 from the last marketing year.
The value of soybean production is expected to total $2.76 billion, down 2% from the previous marketing year. South Dakota's soybean price is projected to average $14.30 per bushel, up $1.20 from the last marketing year.
The value of winter wheat production is expected to total $334 million, up 57% from the previous marketing year. South Dakota's winter wheat price is projected to average $8.80 per bushel, up $0.91 from the last marketing year.
The value of other spring wheat production is expected to total $307 million, up 107% from the previous marketing year. South Dakota's other spring wheat price is projected to average $9.15 per bushel, up $0.31 from the last marketing year.
The value of alfalfa production is expected to total $527 million, up 57% from the previous marketing year. South Dakota's alfalfa price is projected to average $188 per ton, up $16 from the last marketing year. The value of other hay production is expected to total $219 million, up 53% from the previous marketing year. South Dakota's other hay price is projected to average $125.00 per ton, up $1 from the last marketing year.
