The SDSU Extension is gearing up to host the Watertown Crops Expo, an event dedicated to local producers and students from Lake Area Tech College (LATC). This educational expo is set to take place at the SDSU Extension Codington County Office, located at 1910 W Kemp Ave., on January 11, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The expo's agenda is packed with topics crucial to crop producers in South Dakota. The day will commence with onsite registration and breakfast, kindly sponsored by KWAT Radio, at 8:00 a.m.
Attendees can look forward to a series of informative sessions led by renowned experts in the field of agronomy. Jonathan Kleinjan, an SDSU Extension Agronomist, will discuss strategies for maximizing soybean yields. David Karki, an SDSU Extension Agronomy Field Specialist, will shed light on managing cover crops effectively in the state.
Anthony Bly, an SDSU Extension Soils Field Specialist, will guide attendees through the complexities of crop nutrition. Jack Davis, an SDSU Extension Crops Business Management Field Specialist, will provide insights into current commodity markets and land price trends.
The event will also feature a soil health demonstration by Kent Vlieger, a USDA-NRCS Soil Health Specialist, underscoring the importance of maintaining soil vitality for sustainable agriculture.
Lunch is included with the registration, providing an excellent opportunity for networking and discussions among attendees.
