The South Dakota State University (SDSU) Extension, in collaboration with North Dakota State University Extension, offers a unique opportunity for families and individuals interested in aging education.

The popular Aging Well series, renowned for its engaging and informative sessions, is now accessible online for a limited time. Available recordings of the series can be viewed on the SDSU Extension YouTube channel until June 30, 2025.

Leacey Brown, SDSU Extension Gerontology Field Specialist, highlights the temporary availability of these resources, emphasizing the series' dedication to providing timely and relevant information. "These workshops were very popular, and participants were eager to get the recording to watch again," said Brown. This initiative allows those who missed the live events to benefit from the valuable insights shared.

The Aging Well series covers a wide range of topics crucial for enhancing the quality of life as one ages. The workshops include:

  • Exercise: This session underscores the significance of physical activity for older adults, detailing various exercises, their benefits, and how to integrate them into daily routines to boost well-being and maintain independence.
  • Mental Health: The workshop addresses the complexities of mental health in older adults, distinguishing between conditions like dementia and depression. It provides tools for identifying symptoms and supporting at-risk individuals with evidence-based practices.
  • Elder Law: Participants learn about critical aspects of elder law, including power of attorney, wills, and trusts. The workshop aims to equip attendees with the knowledge necessary to make informed decisions about legal representation and estate planning.

The Aging Well series is an annual initiative dedicated to empowering individuals with current and comprehensive educational resources on aging.
