Black Hills State to Host Annual 'Joy of Learning'

Black Hills State University is bringing back the Joy of Learning, a unique speaker series that allows community members the opportunity to learn from expert faculty. This year's event will include more than 20 one-hour talks by BHSU professors and take place June 6-8 and June 13-15.

Faculty from the arts and sciences will speak on such topics as neutrinos and dark matter, the science behind memory and aging, the history of the Supreme Court, and the art of the printing press. All sessions will be held at the Joy Center on the campus of BHSU unless otherwise indicated. Several of the musical presentations will be in Meier Recital Hall.

Sessions will be held at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. each day. The cost to attend is $20 for each individual session or an unlimited pass can be purchased for $125. No prior registration or ticket purchase is required. Attendees will be asked to pay at the door. Attendance is free to BHSU staff, faculty, and students.

Dr. Amy Fuqua, dean of the College of Liberal Arts at BHSU, said, "It is a delight to offer this festival of talks to the public. The knowledge of our BHSU faculty is an invaluable resource that can serve not only our students but also our wonderful Black Hills community."
