In an encouraging move for South Dakota's agricultural community, Dakotaland Feeds has pledged $25,000 to the ‘Raise The SHED’ Fundraising Campaign. This campaign is centered on establishing the SHED, envisioned to be the hub for Open Class Sheep at the South Dakota State Fairgrounds in Huron.
But The SHED isn't just a shelter. Beyond housing sheep, it's set to be a versatile facility, complete with a show arena and an educational center. This indoor space is designed to foster interactive learning about the sheep industry, delve into opportunities in agriculture, and celebrate South Dakota's deep-rooted agricultural heritage.
Dakotaland Feeds General Manager, Troy Swanson, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the company's pride in contributing to such a noteworthy cause. "It’s more than just a building. It's about promoting agriculture and education for the coming generations,” he remarked.
The ambitious project, with a fundraising target of $3 million and a total estimated cost of $8 million, welcomes donors at all levels. Potential contributors can even earn naming rights to the show arena or find their names on the donor wall. All pertinent details and donation channels can be explored at www.sdstatefairfoundation.com. Following the demolition of the previous Open Class Sheep Barn, planning and designing for The SHED are in full swing. The community eagerly awaits a groundbreaking ceremony, anticipated during the 2024 State Fair.
