SDSU Beef Webinar Series Boosts Herd Health and Profit

SDSU Beef Webinar Series Boosts Herd Health and Profit

By Scout Nelson

South Dakota State University (SDSU) Extension invites cattle producers to join its free Beef Webinar Series, designed to help improve herd health, productivity, and overall profitability.

This educational program, called Cattle HQ Live, takes place on the third Thursday of each month at 2:00 p.m. CST. Producers can register once to receive a Zoom link and reminders for all sessions, making participation simple and convenient.

Each webinar focuses on timely topics that matter to beef producers across the region. Experienced SDSU Extension beef team members and guest experts share the latest research-based information and practical strategies that can be used on any size operation. By attending, cattle producers gain valuable knowledge to keep their herds healthier and more efficient, while increasing profitability.

This month, the session features Russ Daly, Professor and SDSU Extension Veterinarian, who also serves as the State Public Health Veterinarian. Daly discusses how to process and receive newly weaned calves, offering step-by-step guidance on introducing them into the feed yard.

His presentation highlights best practices to reduce stress and improve long-term animal performance.

The SDSU Extension beef team encourages anyone with cattle interests-whether seasoned ranchers or new producers-to take part in the ongoing series. Registration is free, and participants who sign up once are automatically registered for all upcoming sessions.

For more details or questions, interested producers can contact Julie Walker, Professor and SDSU Extension Beef Specialist, or Erin DeHaan, Assistant Professor and SDSU Extension Beef Specialist.
