According to the latest report from the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service, fieldwork for the week ending, had 5.4 suitable days. Topsoil moisture supplies were rated as 8% very short, 32% short, 55% adequate, and 5% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies were rated 9% very short, 36% short, 50% adequate, and 5% surplus.
Corn crops were evaluated, with 2% rated as very poor, 7% poor, 35% fair, 47% good, and 9% excellent. Corn silking progress reached 7%, slightly above the five-year average of 6%.
Soybean crops were also assessed, with 2% rated as very poor, 8% poor, 37% fair, 46% good, and 7% excellent. Soybeans in the blooming stage reached 23%, surpassing the progress of the previous year (17%) and remaining close to the average (27%).
The condition of winter wheat was determined to be 17% very poor, 19% poor, 35% fair, 26% good, and 3% excellent. Winter wheat harvesting progress was at 9%, matching last year's figure and nearing the average of 6%.
Spring wheat condition was evaluated as 12% very poor, 17% poor, 42% fair, 28% good, and 1% excellent. Spring wheat headed progress was 95%, surpassing both the previous year (79%) and the average (84%).
Oats showed a condition rating of 3% very poor, 15% poor, 32% fair, 40% good, and 10% excellent. Oats headed progress reached 98%, ahead of the progress made the previous year (86%) and the average (87%). Harvesting progress stood at 1%, equal to the average.
Sorghum condition was evaluated as 3% very poor, 7% poor, 37% fair, 51% good, and 2% excellent. Sorghum heading progress reached 24%, surpassing both the previous year (10%) and the average.
Sunflower crops were assessed with a condition rating of 1% very poor, 6% poor, 45% fair, 47% good, and 1% excellent. Sunflower emergence progress reached 81%.
Pasture and range conditions were evaluated as 6% very poor, 13% poor, 29% fair, 43% good, and 9% excellent.
