The South Dakota Soybean Research & Promotion Council (SDSRPC) is looking for passionate soybean farmers ready to make a difference at a national level.
They're offering a chance to fill one of the four seats allocated to South Dakota on the United Soybean Board (USB) for a term lasting three years.
The USB, a group of 77 farmer-leaders, is responsible for managing the soybean checkoff funds. These funds are vital for research and development in soybean production and use, covering everything from animal and human food products to industrial applications and marketing strategies.
This work is crucial for all U.S. soybean farmers and is overseen by the USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service to ensure fairness and effectiveness.
If you're a soybean farmer living in South Dakota, over the age of 21, and are actively involved in soybean cultivation, this could be your opportunity to contribute to your industry's growth.
Candidates interested in taking up this leadership role must submit a USDA Background Information Form to the SDSRPC by March 20, 2024. For the form and more details, reach out to Becky Cypher at the SDSRPC office.
After the application process, the SDSRPC will nominate two candidates to the USDA, from which the Secretary of Agriculture will make the final selection.
The chosen farmer will represent South Dakota soybean interests on a national scale, beginning their term in December 2024.
With the possibility of serving up to three consecutive terms, this role offers a significant opportunity to influence the future of soybean farming in the United States. Remember, USB and USDA promote equal opportunities without discrimination.
This call to action is not just about filling a position; it's an invitation to be at the forefront of the soybean industry, influencing decisions that affect soybean farmers nationwide. Don't miss your chance to be part of something bigger.
