Stage Two Training for Crop Insurance Agents by SDRP

Stage Two Training for Crop Insurance Agents by SDRP

By Jamie Martin

The United States Department of Agriculture is preparing to host a helpful online training session for crop insurance agents. This event focuses on the Supplemental Disaster Relief Program, known as SDRP, Stage Two. It is designed to support agents who work directly with farmers affected by natural disasters and who rely on clear program guidance.

The training session will be led by USDA’s Risk Management Agency in partnership with the Farm Service Agency. Together, these agencies manage many of the programs farmers depend on during tough seasons. The webinar will explain the purpose of SDRP Stage Two, the types of assistance it provides, and how crop insurance agents can help producers access support.

During the session, speakers will review the main features of the program, including eligibility details, documentation needs, timelines, and how SDRP works alongside standard crop insurance coverage. Understanding these points will help agents give accurate information to farmers when natural disasters affect their operations.

The webinar format allows crop insurance professionals from any location to participate easily. The event will take place on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. EST. USDA recognizes that many agents may have scheduling conflicts, so the session will be recorded. Those who cannot attend live will be able to access the recording afterward.

This training supports USDA’s goal of ensuring that agents are prepared to guide farmers through disaster recovery programs. By improving understanding of SDRP Stage Two, the webinar strengthens communication between agencies, insurance providers, and producers. It also helps ensure that farmers receive timely assistance when severe weather and unexpected conditions disrupt their crop production.

Crop insurance agents are encouraged to join the webinar, learn the latest program information, and build confidence in offering guidance to producers. With better understanding, agents can help farmers take full advantage of the relief tools created to support them after natural disasters.
