Beef Quality Assurance Training Hosted in Bison
South Dakota Ag Connection - 02/12/2024

To uphold the highest standards of beef quality and safety, SDSU Extension is hosting a Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) training session. This event is set to take place on February 21 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at TNT Burgers & Steaks in Bison, SD. The session is open to anyone involved in the cattle industry, from ranchers to handlers, and focuses on continuous improvement through science-based production practices.

The BQA program is a cornerstone for producers seeking to ensure the well-being of their cattle and the quality of the beef they produce. It connects participants with the latest research and techniques in animal care, aiming to boost consumer confidence in beef products, enhance herd profitability, and improve the public image of the beef industry. With benefits extending from farm to table, BQA certification serves as a mark of commitment to quality and safety.

Certification obtained through this training is valid for three years, offering long-term value to participants. The program is designed not just to educate but also to foster a community among producers, encouraging the sharing of best practices and experiences.

Attendance at this training session is free of charge, with no prior registration required, making it easily accessible to all interested parties. While the training itself is complimentary, attendees have the option to enjoy a meal at TNT Burgers & Steaks either before or after the session at their own expense.

This BQA training represents an excellent opportunity for beef and dairy farmers and ranchers in the state to enhance their knowledge and skills, ultimately contributing to the production of high-quality beef. It’s an investment in the future of the beef industry and in the satisfaction of consumers nationwide.
