33 Percent of S.D. Subsoil Moisture Very Short to Short



For the week ending Sunday, there were 6.3 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service. Topsoil moisture supplies rated 8% very short, 26% short, 56% adequate, and 10% surplus. Subsoil moisture supplies rated 7% very short, 26% short, 60% adequate, and 7% surplus.

Corn condition rated 1% very poor, 8% poor, 23% fair, 57% good, and 11% excellent. Corn silking was 13%, behind 24% last year and 27% for the five-year average.

Soybean condition rated 1% very poor, 4% poor, 27% fair, 61% good, and 7% excellent. Soybeans blooming was 30%, behind 49% last year, and well behind 51% average. Setting pods was 4%, near 7% last year, and behind 10% average.

Winter wheat condition rated 2% very poor, 25% poor, 40% fair, 30% good, and 3% excellent. Winter wheat harvested was 25%, behind 31% last year, and near 26% average.

Spring wheat condition rated 2% very poor, 10% poor, 21% fair, 58% good, and 9% excellent. Spring wheat headed was 91%, behind 96% last year, and near 94% average. Harvested was 1%, near 2% average.

Oats condition rated 2% very poor, 16% poor, 23% fair, 53% good, and 6% excellent. Oats headed was 93%, behind 100% last year, and near 95% average. Harvested was 9%, behind 21% last year, and near 11% average.

Sorghum condition rated 2% very poor, 8% poor, 36% fair, 53% good, and 1% excellent. Sorghum headed was 19%, near 23% last year and 16% average.

Pasture and range conditions rated 4% very poor, 24% poor, 34% fair, 32% good, and 6% excellent.
