South Dakota is preparing for a major trade mission to Mexico City, led by Lt. Governor Larry Rhoden. The delegation, in collaboration with South Dakota Trade, will embark from September 25th to 29th, aiming to foster economic growth and capitalize on its strong trade relationship with Mexico, the second-largest trading partner.
The upcoming trade mission holds immense potential for untapped trade opportunities across various sectors. Hunter Roberts, Secretary of Agriculture and Natural Resources, highlighted the rich possibilities in biotechnology, commodities, biofuels, and aquaculture.
The aim is to forge strategic partnerships and expand market access, benefiting South Dakota's business owners who will be at the forefront of deal-making during this mission.
Luke Lindberg, president and CEO of South Dakota Trade, praised the expertise and experience of his team in navigating international trade deals, ensuring that South Dakota can leverage these opportunities effectively. The focus of the delegation will be on facilitating fruitful discussions with Mexican counterparts and fostering long-term collaboration.
This trade mission is just the beginning, as South Dakota plans to organize approximately two trade missions per year, further strengthening its presence in the global marketplace. With Mexico as a valuable partner, South Dakota is poised to embark on a prosperous journey of economic growth and expanded trade horizons.
