SDSU Extension is extending an invitation to cattle producers, allied industry professionals, and individuals interested in cattle feeding to participate in the annual South Dakota Cattlemen's Association Feeder Council feedlot tour on July 20 near Baltic, South Dakota.
The event will feature two guided tours of feedlot facilities in eastern South Dakota. The first tour will commence at 2 p.m. CDT at a local dairy farm that has implemented a beef/dairy crossbreeding system and raises calves on-site.
The second stop on the tour will be at a farm showcasing two confinement structures used in their cattle feeding business: a bed-pack hoop barn and a slatted floor facility. Participants will have the opportunity to observe different housing approaches for cattle, as well as learn about the opportunities that cattle feeding has created for young producers.
Following the farm tours, dinner will be served at approximately 5:30 p.m. at a designated location.
To attend the feedlot tours, registration is required with a fee of $45. Interested individuals can register by visiting the "2023 Feedlot Tour" page on the SD Cattlemen's website.
Participating in these feedlot tours provides a valuable opportunity to explore South Dakota's feedlot facilities, gain insights into cattle feeding practices, and connect with industry professionals.
Don't miss this chance to enhance your knowledge and network within the cattle industry!
