The South Dakota State Fair Foundation is thrilled to announce a generous $100,000 pledge from Farm Credit Services of America (FCSAmerica) to the 'Raise The SHED' fundraising campaign. This substantial contribution is a significant step toward realizing the vision for The SHED, a proposed multi-purpose facility at the South Dakota State Fairgrounds in Huron.
The SHED is designed to be the new venue for Open Class Sheep, incorporating a show arena and an educational center. This indoor space will offer interactive learning experiences about the sheep industry, agricultural opportunities, and the rich agricultural heritage of the state.
Jason Edleman, a senior vice president of business development for FCSAmerica, expressed his organization's pride in supporting this initiative. "Anyone who grew up in agriculture knows the hard work and pride that goes into raising a ribbon-worthy animal and stepping into a show ring,” said Edleman. “We’re proud to contribute to a project that will showcase future producers, positively impact young people, and highlight the state’s agricultural industry.”
FCSAmerica, a customer-owned financial cooperative, serves farmers and ranchers in South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, and Wyoming, offering specialized lending products and programs, particularly for young and beginning producers.
The 'Raise The SHED' campaign is open to donations of all levels, offering various donor opportunities including show arena naming rights and donor wall sponsorships. Interested parties can find more details on contributing at www.sdstatefairfoundation.com.
With a fundraising goal of $3 million and a total project cost of around $8 million, the campaign is gaining momentum. Following the demolition of the former Open Class Sheep Barn, plans and designs for The SHED are in progress, with a groundbreaking ceremony anticipated during the 2024 State Fair.
