From farm to future - women rise as Agvocates

This spring, SDSU Extension invites women involved in agriculture to the Power of Women as AgVocates Conference. Scheduled for March 1-2, 2024, at the Casey Tibbs Rodeo Center Museum in Fort Pierre, the conference aims to enhance women's advocacy skills within the agricultural sector. A registration fee of $75 is required by February 23.

"Agvocate" combines agriculture and advocacy, highlighting the event's focus on empowering women to effectively represent themselves, their families, and the broader industry. Robin Salverson, an SDSU Extension Cow/Calf Field Specialist, emphasizes the conference's goal to educate women on the significance of advocacy in agriculture.

The event starts with Kelsey Geraets, an agriculture advocate and manager of a family-owned cattle operation, setting the stage on March 1. The following day, attendees will enjoy a blend of networking opportunities, insightful presentations, and inspirational speakers from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Anna Kobza, a Nebraska cattle producer and social media influencer, will deliver a keynote on "The Power We Possess." Laila Down, a talent development expert, will speak on "The Power of Motivating Women," sharing her expertise in agricultural sales, advertising, and education.

SDSU Extension specialists will contribute with topics ranging from healthful eating and agritourism to legislative issues and mental health strategies, offering a comprehensive educational experience.
