'History Talk' to Focus on Women in South Dakota

For October, the South Dakota State Historical Society's virtual "History Talks" speaker series features Liz Almlie from the State Historic Preservation Office. Almlie will offer a free Zoom presentation, "Visible: Women's History in South Dakota's Historic Places," on Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. CST. To register, go to sdhsf.org/events.

South Dakota's historic places are also places where women made history. Almlie will share stories of teachers, physicians, reformers, nurses, ranchers, seed packers, and more who are connected to South Dakota sites. She'll also talk about tips and tools for researching and recognizing the full story of historic places.

"History Talks" is offered monthly and is sponsored by the South Dakota Historical Society and the South Dakota Historical Society Foundation. For more information about the South Dakota Historical Society Press and its books, please visit sdhspress.com and follow @sdhspress on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
