Celebrate June Dairy Month with a free, family-friendly event featuring a dairy farm tour, children's activities, free grilled cheese sandwiches and ice cream. The Moes family will host the open house on their family farm, MoDak Dairy, near Kranzburg, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 11.
"We are excited to open our farm to the public to share how we care for cows and calves and show our neighbors and community members where the dairy products they enjoy get their start," said Greg Moes, MoDak Dairy.
Guests at the event will learn more about how farmers care for the environment, their cows, and how milk travels from the cow to the grocery store.
"We appreciate the Moes family's willingness to open up their farm to their neighbors and folks from the surrounding communities," said Heidi Zwinger, outreach director for Ag United. "There's nothing like giving people the opportunity to see firsthand how committed South Dakota dairy farmers are to their cows and the environment."
MoDak Dairy is located north of Kranzburg. From Interstate 29 go seven miles east on Hwy 212. Turn North onto Kranzburg Ave. for 1 mile. Then turn right onto 171st St. for 3?4 mi. The farm is located at 46516 171st St. Goodwin.
The event is sponsored in part by Ag United/South Dakota Farm Families, Undeniably Dairy, Midwest Dairy, and Valley Queen Cheese. To learn more, visit agunited.org/events/.
