S.D. Receive $260,000 in Federal School Nutrition Program Grants



School systems across South Dakota have been granted more than $260,000 in School Nutrition Program equipment grants for new equipment or to renovate/replace existing equipment.

“Food service professionals all over our state work hard every day to provide students delicious, healthy meals,” said Cheriee Watterson, the Department of Education’s director of Child and Adult Nutrition Services. “This equipment will help them keep their programs top-notch by supporting their ability to do more cooking from scratch, use more fresh produce, and expand participation in lunch and breakfast programs.”

  • Aberdeen Catholic School System - $23,534.76 for dishwasher and convection oven
  • Bon Homme School District - $25,000 for walk-in freezer unit
  • Bridgewater Emery School District - $16,427 for dough divider/rounder
  • Burke School District - $14,644.20 for stand-alone freezers
  • Corsica-Stickney School District - $7,791.03 for cafeteria tables
  • Dupree School District - $8,036.97 for serving counter
  • Gregory School District - $25,000 for tilt skillet braising pan
  • Harding County School District - $7,269.12 for can racks
  • Hot Springs School District - $7,599 for commercial dishwashing machine
  • LifeScape - $23,988 for electric combi-oven
  • Marion School District - $24,536.41 for indoor walk-in freezer
  • Mobridge-Pollock School District - $9,040 for milk coolers
  • Rosholt School District - $11,790 for electric convection oven
  • Sanborn Central School District - $25,000 for convection oven
  • Viborg-Hurley School District - $25,000 - for walk-in cooler/freezer combo
  • Willow Lake School District - $5,754.95 for reach-in refrigerator

These grants are funded with federal dollars from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service to competitively award to eligible entities.
