At the National Western Stock Show, a young farmer named Croix Reimann achieved a heartfelt triumph. Croix, hailing from Ree Heights, South Dakota, was awarded the Supreme Champion for his market steer, Frosty. This victory was particularly significant as the trophy he won is named after his late father, Nick Reimann, who tragically passed away in a plane crash in 2014.
Nick Reimann, a respected figure in the cattle show community, is remembered through the traveling trophy introduced in his honor in 2015. Croix, who was only four years old at the time of his father's passing, has found a way to connect with his dad's legacy through cattle showing.
Kyrstin Reimann-Doris, Croix’s mother, expressed mixed emotions of joy and sorrow, acknowledging the emotional impact of her son's achievement in the absence of his father. She said the importance of continuing the family legacy was echoed by Croix.
The Reimann family will treasure the trophy throughout 2024, after which it will be passed on to another deserving winner the following year. Croix's victory not only signifies a personal achievement but also serves as a tribute to his father, embodying the spirit of perseverance and dedication in young farmers across the region.
