Call for Nominations: South Dakota Woman Farmer/Rancher of the Year Award

Call for Nominations: South Dakota Woman Farmer/Rancher of the Year Award

The fourth-annual Dakotafest Woman Farmer/Rancher of the Year Award is now accepting nominations from the public, according to IDEAg Group LLC, the festival's organisers. The nomination process will end on June 2, 2023, and Dakotafest will host the renowned prize presentation on August 17, 2023.

The Dakotafest Woman Farmer/Rancher of the Year Award was established in 2020 to honour the commitment and perseverance of South Dakota's female farmers who devote their life to the cultivation of crops and the raising of livestock.

The Women in Ag event, which will take place at the Dakotafest Education Building during the 2023 show in Mitchell, will honour five nominees live from among all the applicants.

The Women in Ag event finishes with the announcement of the Dakotafest Woman Farmer/Rancher of the Year and features a notable female speaker from the agricultural sector. The winner will get a $1,000 cash reward. In recognition of her extraordinary dedication to her farm and ranch in Harrold, South Dakota, VeaBea Thomas was named the 2022 Dakotafest Woman Farmer/Rancher of the Year.

Dakotafest is scheduled to be held from August 15-17, 2023, with the award presentation taking place at the Women in Ag event on Thursday, August 17, at 10:30 a.m. Central time.

Farm Bureau Financial Services, Farm Credit Services of America, KMIT, and Brock Grain Systems are the sponsors of the honour.

On the official Dakotafest website, at Dakotafest.com, you may find further details if you're interested in nominating yourself or someone else, or in attending the Women in Ag event. Nominations must be submitted by June 2, 2023.
