South Dakota farm bureau hosts free wellness event

By Scout Nelson

Families are invited to join the South Dakota Farm Bureau for a special event focused on safety education and rural health and wellness at Little Village Farm on July 16, 2024.

Hosted at 47582 240th Street, Dell Rapids, the event starts at 4 p.m. and promises an engaging evening with tours of the farm's rural history collection, safety activities for children, and a complimentary meal.

The highlight of the event will be a presentation by Karl Oehlke from Avera Health, who brings his expertise as a farmer and physician assistant to discuss effective strategies for managing stress. This gathering, part of the South Dakota Farm Bureau's Summer Event Series, aims to provide educational opportunities and connect attendees with expert insights.

Open to the public at no cost, participants are encouraged to RSVP to ensure an accurate meal count. Contact Helen Geppert at 605-770-8581 or visit for registration details.

The South Dakota Farm Bureau organizes events like these across its seven geographic districts, each represented by elected directors on the state Board of Directors. These events not only offer educational benefits but also foster community engagement and support for farming and ranching communities statewide.

For more information on district boundaries and upcoming events, including a map of the districts, visit the South Dakota Farm Bureau website. Join us at Little Village Farm for an enriching experience that blends heritage appreciation with contemporary health and safety insights.
