In a recent board meeting held in Bloomington, Minnesota, Northern Soy Marketing (NSM) has ushered in new leadership for Fiscal Year 25, which began on July 1.
David Struck, the current chairman of the South Dakota Soybean Research and Promotion Council (SDSRPC), was elected as the vice chair of NSM.
Struck expressed his enthusiasm for the role, noting the importance of giving a voice to soybean growers in the northern states, which NSM represents. He emphasized the strategic use of checkoff dollars to educate international buyers about the benefits of northern-grown soybeans, enhancing their marketability and financial returns.
Under Struck's vice chairmanship, NSM aims to strengthen its position in international markets by leveraging the quality of soybeans grown in the region. The organization plans to continue its mission of promoting the nutritional and financial benefits of northern soy, with a focus on exports via the Pacific Northwest.
Minnesota farmer Glen Groth was elected as chair, taking over from Patrick O’Leary, who will continue serving on the board. Nancy Kavazanjian from Wisconsin was reappointed as treasurer, ensuring continuity in NSM's fiscal oversight.
The NSM board also reviewed budgets and administrative reports, celebrating the achievements of FY24 and setting a robust agenda for the year ahead.
With this new leadership, NSM is poised to capitalize on the growing demand for high-quality soybeans on the global stage.
