The SDSU Extension is welcoming applications for the seventh iteration of its beefSD program, aimed at broadening the expertise of beef producers across all experience levels.
This program has expanded its reach, now catering not just to beginners but to any producer eager to explore new management methods, with a particular emphasis on precision livestock technologies.
Each class in the beefSD program involves a rigorous selection process, including applications and interviews, to choose up to 20 participating operations.
The chosen participants will embark on a two-year educational journey, demanding active involvement in numerous components of the program, from in-person workshops to interactive webinars.
Stacy Hadrick, a coordinator for the program, emphasizes its unique value in setting goals and fostering significant industry connections that last well beyond the duration of the program.
With a registration cost of $1,500 per individual, the program promises extensive educational benefits and networking opportunities that cover various facets of the beef industry.
The program is set to start in November 2024 and will run until October 2026. It is structured around key learning experiences both within and outside of South Dakota, including practical sessions that tackle real-world challenges in beef production.
The beefSD program has historically led to substantial improvements in participants' operations, with notable advancements in financial stability, acreage management, and resource utilization, proving its effectiveness as a transformative force in the beef industry.
