Voices of Women Driving Agriculture Change

Voices of Women Driving Agriculture Change

By Jamie Martin

The newly launched Women in Agriculture Study aims to highlight the important voices of women shaping the future of American agriculture. This national survey, open through March 31, seeks insights from women in production, agribusiness, education, and advocacy, as well as from men and others who can share their views on women’s growing roles in the field.

Designed to deepen understanding of leadership development, mentorship, and barriers, the study will explore the experiences and opportunities that define women’s participation in agriculture. Respondents may also choose to join optional follow-up interviews and focus groups for further discussion.

“More than a million women play vital roles in U.S. agriculture, accounting for 36% of our country’s farmers,” said American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall. “We want to make sure we’re clearing barriers and providing opportunities for them, and understanding their perspectives is crucial. I encourage all women in agriculture and related fields to participate in this study, which will deepen understanding of their future needs.”

Results will be unveiled at the International Year of the Woman Farmer ACE Summit, hosted by AFBF in June 2026 in Washington, D.C. The findings will shape leadership programs, outreach strategies, and policies to promote women’s growth across agriculture.

The study is open to participants 18 and older working in or connected to agriculture, forestry, aquaculture, horticulture, or related fields. Sponsored by the AFBF Women’s Leadership Committee and funded by CoBank and JBS, the project seeks to ensure every agricultural voice is heard.
