Range Beef Cow Symposium Returns 2025

Range Beef Cow Symposium Returns 2025

By Scout Nelson

The 2025 Range Beef Cow Symposium will take place on November 10 and 11 at the Event Center at Archer in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Hosted by the University of Wyoming, this biennial event is a long-standing educational platform for beef producers across the western United States.

The symposium, which began in 1969, is organized by the Cooperative Extension Service and the animal science departments of Colorado State University, South Dakota State University, the University of Nebraska, and the University of Wyoming. It continues to serve as a vital source of practical knowledge for ranchers and cattle producers in the four-state region.

This year’s program focuses on “Rebuilding the Cow Herd,” an important topic for many ranchers working to strengthen their operations after years of economic and environmental challenges. National and international speakers will share innovative strategies and research-based solutions to support the future of the beef industry.

Topics will include herd health management, breeding strategies, nutrition, and economic planning—key areas that help producers improve herd efficiency and profitability. Attendees will also have opportunities to network with industry professionals, researchers, and fellow producers.

Organizers include Erin DeHaan, Assistant Professor and SDSU Extension Beef Specialist, and Julie Walker, Professor and SDSU Extension Beef Specialist. Their leadership continues the event’s legacy of promoting collaboration among universities and producers to advance sustainable beef production.

For more information, participants can visit the official Range Beef Cow Symposium website to explore the full agenda, registration details, and speaker lineup.
