South Dakota State University (SDSU) Extension invites cattle producers and livestock enthusiasts to participate in its free monthly webinar series, Cattle HQ Live. Designed to help farmers improve herd health, productivity, and profitability, these sessions provide timely education and practical guidance.
The webinar series takes place on the third Thursday of each month at 2:00 p.m. CST. Each session covers relevant topics to help producers manage their herds effectively throughout the year. By joining, participants gain access to expert advice and useful strategies for everyday cattle operations.
This month’s session features Russ Daly, Professor, SDSU Extension Veterinarian, and State Public Health Veterinarian. Daly will discuss best practices for processing and receiving newly weaned calves and share important steps to successfully introduce them into the feed yard. His presentation will highlight techniques to reduce stress, support calf health, and improve weight gain during this critical transition period.
The Cattle HQ Live webinars are free to attend, making it easy for farmers and ranchers of all sizes to stay informed. Interested participants only need to register once to gain access to the entire series, ensuring they receive the Zoom link and regular reminders for upcoming sessions.
For more details or specific questions, attendees can contact Julie Walker, Professor and SDSU Extension Beef Specialist, or Erin DeHaan, Assistant Professor and SDSU Extension Beef Specialist.
By participating, cattle producers can stay updated on current herd management practices, learn from experienced veterinarians, and adopt proven methods that help boost the health and profitability of their operations. This monthly learning opportunity provides practical insights for both new and experienced beef producers seeking to strengthen their cattle programs.
